John Chamberlin

Technology Expert

John Chamberlin brings 50+ years of technology expertise to Softjourn’s Fintech projects. He specializes in a braided stream of experience in technology and business, particularly in banking and financial transaction projects that stretch across all continents. 

After founding Arkansas Systems (ArkSys) in 1975, his firm went from focusing on creating ATM and online financial networks for U.S.-based community banks to developing a customer base in 60 countries. Eventually, ArkSys software drove half of the ATMs in many countries in Eastern Europe.

John successfully sold ArkSys in 1998 and remained with the new company until 2001. Since then, he has worked with technology startups and was a founding board member of Ikobo, a pioneering internet funds transfer firm that had users in 192 countries. He has served as board member and advisor to many startups, including through the NSF I-Corps and Delta I-Fund programs.

John earned a master’s degree in Operations Research in Human Nutrition at MIT and a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Michigan State. John also graduated from the US Army Finance School at Ft. Harrison, In.
