Eventgroove came to Softjourn aware that their Event Constructor wasn’t as user-friendly as they intended. They noticed that users were not using its advanced features as the navigation wasn’t straightforward.

They wanted to update its design and planned to offer new tools that users could use to customize visuals for each event. 
 

SOLUTION:

Our small team of designers quickly dove into redesigning the Event Constructor. The team had two designers and a PM to ensure the highest quality of the designs. 

The design lead was involved in the project as she has rich experience with this type of project. The client was a part of the design process and was very satisfied with our team’s deliverables. 
 

RESULT:

Softjourn worked with Eventgroove to update the design and introduce new visual customization tools for each event, making it a more user-friendly platform.

About the Project

Eventgroove is a US-based company that offers integrated event management, e-commerce, and fundraising options to 76,000 customers worldwide. Eventgroove serves a variety of domains, such as entertainment, nonprofit, education, sports, and civic sectors, and operates in the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK.

Eventgroove’s website offers a tool called ‘Event Wizard’ to create customized event designs that can be used for promotional purposes. The Event Constructor tool grew in popularity, so Eventgroove wanted to provide more complexity and options for different types of users, improve the tool’s layout, and make it more user-friendly.

Our client felt their website navigation and the interface of their Event Constructor tool appeared outdated, and they wanted to give it a new look that would appeal to a new generation of users. 

Since Eventgroove had collaborated with Softjourn on a past project, they knew our talented team of designers would have the expertise to redesign their website to make it modern and easy to use.

After introducing many new features, Eventgroove analyzed how its users interacted with the Event Constructor tool. What they discovered is that users would create event pages, but wouldn’t be able to find the right tool to customize the design, leaving all pages looking very similar.

This means that if more advanced design features were added in the future, their users would likely stick to using basic options due to trouble understanding how the tool works. This made Eventgroove realize that they needed to make the event builder experience clearer and simpler for their users if they wanted to keep growing their features. Plus, users would have the ability to create more engaging designs, which would likely retain and attract more ticket buyers.

After a kickoff meeting, Softjourn’s design team – which included two designers and a Project Manager – received the list of the client’s requirements and quickly dove into redesigning Eventgroove’s site.

The Solution

Using Softjourn’s resources meant that the client could finish the redesign process much more quickly than if the process had been done in-house. We also involved a design lead who brought a lot of experience to the team and oversaw the project to ensure the highest quality of all of the deliverables. 

Eventgroove’s Head of Design, Emily Korczyk, said, “The new design is much more modern and will help us be more competitive, and also provide a much-improved experience for our customers”.

We also involved a Solutions Architect to advise on the best practices for user flows and overall improvements. Each week our team prepared a demo so the client could follow our progress and provide feedback that would be quickly applied. We were told by the client that, “Communication and organization were both great – Softjourn’s team demonstrated their expertise by providing multiple suggestions for improving our current UI/UX”.

In the end, Softjourn’s work accounted for approximately 80% of the application design. We also developed several concepts with variations to give the client a variety of approaches to select from to create a unified UI for a desktop mobile redesign. We were pleased to hear from our client, “Thanks to Softjourn, we were able to complete the design much more quickly than if we had completed the project internally.”

After implementing the changes our designers created, our client’s platform had new and improved UI/UX. Now customers can make event pages with just a few clicks, add images, and create engaging and customized designs for their audiences.

Increased Accessibility 

For this project, we involved our Solution Architect to build a new business logic that would be more navigable and intuitive for users. He recommended several useful solutions that our designers incorporated into their designs that will make the user journey crystal clear.
