About the Client
We helped Quicket, a leading event ticketing and management platform based in South Africa, develop a multi-event Point of Sale (POS) application. After a great collaboration, they decided to continue partnering with Softjourn on another project: The design and functionality of their access control app.
The Problem
In the dynamic world of application development, Quicket faced distinct challenges with two of their key products: a Point of Sale (POS) application and an Access Control App (ACA). The POS application required a fresh, user-friendly interface built from the ground up, aligning with Quicket's established brand guidelines. Their Access Control App, while functional, lacked aesthetic appeal and a seamless user experience, deviating from Quicket's branding.
The Solution
Softjourn, with its deep-rooted expertise in ticketing systems, approached these challenges with a blend of innovation and adherence to Quicket's branding requirements.
POS App Development
Starting from scratch, Softjourn's team embarked on creating a modern and intuitive user interface (UI) for the POS app. Embracing Quicket's vision, we crafted a UI that was not just visually appealing but also intuitively user-friendly, mirroring Quicket's commitment to superior customer experiences.
This process involved not only adhering to Quicket's brand book but also introducing creative design elements and functionalities that enhanced the overall user experience.
Redesigning the Access Control App
The access control app's transformation was focused on infusing the app with Quicket's branding while elevating its user experience. Softjourn's team scrutinized every aspect of the existing app, proposing and implementing improvements in functionality, user flow, and UX design.
Both projects leveraged Figma's advanced prototyping tools, enabling the creation of detailed, interactive prototypes. This approach ensured that Quicket could fully visualize and experience the designs before moving into the development phase.
The Benefits
Leveraging Ticketing Expertise: Softjourn's experience in ticketing systems played a pivotal role in understanding and executing the project requirements efficiently.
User-Centric Design: Both apps were redesigned to offer a simple yet effective user experience. Special attention was paid to ensure that the apps were easy to navigate, particularly in outdoor settings, with a careful selection of colors and fonts for optimum readability. For the ACA, we offered solutions to avoid common misclicks.
Streamlined User Flow: Both the Access Control and POS applications were designed to be as simple, sleek, and modern as possible. We strived to significantly reduce the number of user interactions required to complete tasks, making the apps more intuitive and user-friendly.
Going the Extra Mile: Softjourn's proactive approach in identifying and suggesting additional improvements underscored their commitment to delivering more than just what was asked, thereby enhancing the overall value of the apps.
Conclusion
The design phases of both the POS application and the Access Control Application concluded successfully with high praise from Quicket’s Technical Director, Michael Kennedy:
Softjourn addressed Quicket's challenges by not only adhering to their brand book but also enhancing the UI/UX, providing detailed prototypes, and improving functionality.
The POS application project has now progressed to the development stage, where Softjourn's technical expertise continues to play a crucial role, while the ACA will be implemented by Quicket’s internal team.
The collaboration between Quicket and Softjourn illustrates the transformative impact of expert UI/UX design in application development.
